FOCUS Pen

Ubiquitous Computing,
July 2017 - 3 weeks

It took well over a week and quite a few debates (arguments) about what 'Ubiquitous' means. We, a team of 3 — Akshay, Hemant & I, ideated over and over on what the perfect ubiquitous product would be, and finally went about it by considering a task instead of a product. We picked 'Focussing' as the primary task and from there on, it just all came together.

The Pen was a result of dedication, hard-work and a desire to do something big this semester. There are still possibilities of us taking it to the physical prototyping stage, but as of now we have a video prototype of it to show for.

Subsequently, we documented our process and wrote a research paper about our findings for SIDeR (Student Interaction Design Research) conference 2018. You can find that here – The FOCUS Pen – Future of Note-taking

We also submitted this as an entry to the Braun Prize 2018 student competition.
